Core Principles of FSC®
The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) is an international, non-profit organisation that has been developing global standards for responsible forest management since 1993. Today, the FSC® label is one of the most widely recognised certifications for timber and wood-based products.
FSC® standards are based on three core principles:
Environmental: Forests are managed in a way that preserves biological diversity, productivity and natural regeneration capacity.
Social: The rights of workers, indigenous peoples and local communities are respected and protected.
Economic: Forest use is economically viable without compromising the resources of future generations.
FSC in practice
FSC®-certified timber means that all stages of the supply chain – from harvesting in the forest through processing and trading to the finished product – are independently audited and fully documented.
This provides customers with the assurance that the Robinia timber used does not originate from illegal logging or uncontrolled forest exploitation and fully complies with applicable FSC® standards.
We are happy to advise you on how FSC®-certified options can be implemented in your project.

What does FSC® mean?
FSC® stands for Forest Stewardship Council® and is an international certification system for responsible forest management. The aim of FSC® is to ensure ecological, social, and economic standards throughout the entire supply chain of wood-based products.
What does FSC certification mean?
FSC certification confirms that wood products originate from responsibly managed forests and are clearly separated and documented throughout the supply chain. This includes defined requirements regarding the origin, processing, and trade of the wood.
What is FSC®-certified Robinia wood?
FSC®-certified Robinia wood comes from controlled sources where sustainable forest management as well as social and ecological criteria are met. The certification ensures transparency and traceability from the forest to the final product.
Are all Robinia wood products FSC®-certified?
Not every product is automatically FSC®-certified. The availability of FSC-certified products depends on the specific batch, product type, and origin. We are happy to provide project-specific information on the availability of FSC®-certified delivery options.
What are the benefits of FSC®-certified wood?
FSC®-certified wood provides assurance that ecological responsibility, social standards, and sustainable resource use are taken into account. For many projects—particularly in the public and professional sector—it supports compliance with sustainability requirements and procurement guidelines.
Why is FSC® particularly relevant in the public and professional sector?
In public tenders, municipal projects, and commercial construction, FSC® certification is often required as proof of sustainable material sourcing. FSC® certification helps meet these requirements and creates transparency for clients, planners, and contracting authorities.
Can FSC®-certified products be supplied on a project-specific basis?
Yes, FSC®-certified products can often be supplied on a project-specific basis. The exact implementation depends on the product, quantity, and delivery time and is coordinated individually for each project.
What does FSC® Chain of Custody mean?
FSC® Chain of Custody (CoC) refers to the continuous documentation and physical separation of certified wood products throughout the entire supply chain. It ensures that FSC®-certified wood remains clearly identifiable and is not mixed with non-certified material.
